I've seen some other forums, but this forum definatly is the best in terms of mod friendly-ness, etc. And their quite efficient here, too. Plus our mods have cooler sounding usernames...

I really liked this one. I've tried many other apps that gather the Album Cover art for iTunes songs/albums but this is the best by far.
It's called Clutter (http://www.sprote.com/clutter/).
Launch Clutter when you have iTunes open. As a song is playing, Clutter automatically looks up the album art. Once found, under the File menu select copy to iTunes and BAM, it's there for the WhOLE album. Sweet.
One note. If it doesn't find the art, just go under the File menu and choose "Find cover in Amazon". Just type in different variations of the artist or song and i'm sure it'll pop up.

I've got an image which contains multiple layers. The user can set a picture as a layer. However when there isn't a picture available I'd like to have a replacement picture.

It will be interesting when these new dvd discs cost around $5 for 50GB, then I will jump on it.
Are you sure? By then you will get at least 1TB hard drives for 100$ (there are already 750GB drives on the market). I still would prefer the hard drive. Faster data access and easier handling...

You're right this isn't the portable media market - those devices are primitive compared to what's being offered here and yet the heavy weights were NEVER able to even dent THAT market. You would think the likes of SONY, HP MOTOROLA, M$SOFT and all the other consumer electronics giants, with all of their resources, could come up with something smart enough to compete with the iPod over the years, right?
We pretty much knew Sony would fail, they're the ultimate balldroppers. They refused mp3 for as long as humanly possible, instead trying to peddle advanced MiniDisc players with USB2, years into the iPod era. Sort of a repeat of the Betamax vs VHS war back in the 80s. When they eventually caved, they introduced some butt ugly, purple, blobby mp3 players nobody wanted. Now with PS3 they're even losing a market they completely dominated, they're getting pummeled by Xbox 360 and the technologically inferior Nintendo Wii. I bet they'll somehow manage to drop the ball with Blu-Ray, too. I never understood Sony, never will.
M$ entered the game way too late with Zune, and with this DRM quirk the Zune is doomed. It's not even out in Europe yet. With iPod, Apple has always made sure that anyone in the world can have it in their hand a few days after the Keynote. Listen closely, Apple is attempting to reinvent the mobile phone by marrying what we traditionally associate with a smartphone (smartERphone actually) under a totally new "human friendly" and intuitive package. Those things tend to have mass appeal.

Allegedly it won't even accept 3rd party software, yet businessmen will want to sync it up with MS Exchange/Outlook or Lotus Notes, and they'll probably want to snap in their TomTom or Wayfinder GPS module too. As of now, the gateway for all things iPhone is iTunes, and they're kidding themselves if they think corporate customers will trust a damn music jukebox with their mail, calendar and contacts. And if kids can't cram it chock full of Java games they won't want it either. So the market position really isn't anything like they have with the iPod. Market share is everything. Look at the Palm - say what you will about M$ but PDAs with their mobile OS were superior to Palm in so many ways it's insane, but noooooo, people just had to stay with the Palm, just like they'll stick to their Treo even when iPhone can cook breakfast for them.

The problem with that is that without a real HDMI connector HD-DVD or Blue-Ray commercial disks will downsample the video due to the DRM restrictions. You have to have an actual HDMI connector on both ends and they have to support HDCP to get a fully digital, full resolution image on any monitor/HDTV.

Combine this with the included Apple Remote for Front Row, and you have yourself a (somewhat expensive) media center (with an unnecessary screen?;) ).

You went back to school and you didn't learn how to bill or control a client? Your very first mistake was booking a $75 job with a 3 hour time limit. If that is all someone can afford, then don't work for them. In my experience, the cheaper they are, the more demanding they usually are. Your second mistake was giving the power to your client and not billing him for phone time. You didn't manage the job and you paid the price. I bet you didn't even have a signed contract. :eek:
It's funny how there's things in a University that are what I would only refer to as assume knowledge. Pricing, billings, building a cv and building a professional network are very much skimped over IMHO.
It wasn't until I started working in house as a creative I really got a good understanding of these processes, what I would suggest though is to buy this book. (http://www.amazon.com/Graphic-Designer-without-Losing-Expanded/dp/1568989830/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1300700008&sr=8-1-spell)
Pricing, I cannot repeat this enough charge how you think you should be paid. 3 hours for a web site mock-up for $75 wouldn't get me out of bed, your undercutting yourself and making yourself marketable to the low ballers.
Whatever your charging divide by 4, as a freelance that is your REAL hourly wages. So if you're charging $25 per hour you're real hourly wage is $6.25, workers are Burger King earn more.
Charging more will bracket yourself to a better class of client IMHO.

Why the heck _wouldn't_ you count those? You can use apps across all the devices, which is where the power of the Apple ecosystem comes into play. Once the Apple TV can support apps, that will be counted too. Whether or not you can make a phone call on the device is absolutely 100% irrelevant. The ONLY thing that matters in these kind of numbers is whether or not you can run an application on it. That's where the benefit of market reach comes into play. More devices sold = more developers = more benefit to customers = more devices sold = more developers ... etc. It's a great little self-sustaining model.

Android phones from the same manufacturers are barely comparable to each other.
