Raju, true indeed.....
I have noticed for several cases in here, where all the 3 applications are sent to the california service center....and CSC processes the EAD and AP and forwards the 485 app. back to NSC / TSC for further processing. The positive thing is that CSC is quick in processing AP/EAD....thus in a way this situation can prove to be lucky for all those whose applications are forwarded from NSC to CSC.
I believe USCIS is trying to comlete the receipting job from all the Service centres.
so you wont be sruprised if folks started reporting their receipt numbers start with EAC (for Vermont).
Let USCIS do their job of receipting everyone who filed in July-Aug 2007.
Ultimately processing will be done at USCIS NSC and TSC for I-140 and I-485 due to their bi-specialization program.
So no worry be happy...Support IV

Thanks for all the responses. My question is: Can one legally be on payroll of two companies and draw salary from them, both on H1? How about both on EAD? And, one on H1, the other on EAD?

I would save expenses of atleast one year in an emergency fund before putting extra money towards house payoff.
In better job market you can reduce your emerency fund to upto six months worth of expenses and move rest of the money to reduce principle you owe towards your house.

Don't do the mistake of renewing it in India. I did that mistake and had to go through one hell of corrupt bureaucracy.
I am going to India for couple months and plans to return back on AP.I am planning to get my passport Renewal in India. Is it OK to Renew in India as it shows my India address.
Thanks In advance

Hi zCool,
I got RFE and summary of text is as below.
Asking for
1. Contract from the client in charlotte, nc
(but after applying h1b extn, i moved to CA)
2. W-2 for 2006,2007
I got #2.
for #1, we are planning to send old contract for charlotte,nc client and new contract in CA client.
Do we need to send end client 'project verification letter' or something like that ?.
Thanks a lot.

Hi,
I am a July 2nd filer - got receipts/AP/EAD and online status for I-485 reads-"case now pending at the service center to which it was transferred." All receipts begin with WAC. I believe the applications originally filed at NSC, were transferred to CSC and then CSC transferred I-485 back to NSC after approving EAD/AP.
Anyone, in similar situation has received FP notices? Please reply or PM me.
Thanks

Nobody from IV has prevented people from other countries from speaking up. On the contrary, multinationalism is only encouraged to give a global face to this issue. But, I don't see anyone from outside India/China bolstering IV's efforts. Why don't they step up and join the core team?
Not true, I'm sure I am not the only IV member that falls outside the Indian or Chinese nationality group that has stepped up and has been contacted for help
Don't mistake sloppy media reporting for lack of incentive by anyone :)

I would say a very transparent administration and solid institutions along with excellent educational systems is a key reason for these small countries being so competitive. Much of Asia and Africa is bogged down due to unstable political condition, rampant corruption, weak institutions and regulated economies, not to say low literacy and paucity of skilled workers.
In finland, denmark, iceland and other small northern european/scandinavian countries, English is the main language used, making it much easier for new immigrants.these small countries have to use english to stay competitive and communicate, because most of the world including europe do not speak finnish or swedish.
Just a thought for those wishing to get the hell outta here

This Guy just applied in Dec 2004 and got GC. His question is whether i need to carry ?
it is only karma.

I thought that I will share my recent experience.
I arrived in USA in 2003 on a L1 visa.
It was expiring soon, but instead of renewing, because of fear of denial, my company converted me to H1 using premium processing.
Department of state was going to close the VISA revalidation process, so in 2004 I sent my passport to them and got a h1 Stamp (within the USA).
I changed my employer later using H1 transfer and they kept renewing my H1 petition.
My new employer also started my GC processing and in Jul 2007 I applied for my 485 along with wife's.
Since then I have been working with the same employer on EAD.
After a long time I wanted to visit India, so applied and got my AP.
Although I had my AP, I wanted to visit India, get an h1 stamp and reenter on H1.
This is because EAD is taking too long for renewal.
I went to India, visited Mumbai Consulate, they did not ask me a single document.
They understood that I was asking for a stamp after 7 years, so they asked me "so your GC process is ON huh?". I said, "Yup".
No other questions asked.
I got my h1 stamp in 2-3 days.
Planning to reenter USA on that stamp.
Once I return my company will switch me from EAD to H1.
Hopefully EAD will arrive after that.
I will just keep that handy.
If I move to another employer, I will have a choice, use H1 or EAD.
I am keeping my H1 for the only reason, that if 485 gets rejected for any stupid reasons, I will have a way to fall back on something.
I have a house and a small kid born in the USA, don't want to have ANY illegal status, even for a day.
Wife will continue to work on EAD.
H1 is valid for 3 years, so I can travel to and fro USA to other countries with much more ease than the AP.
Plus I don't have to pay the crazy AP fees each time.
Please do comment if you find this information useful or any issues in my plans stated above.
I will update this post when I arrive back in USA.
Update : 8/12/2010
I entered USA on H1 through IAD airport with ZERO questions asked.

Due to the economic downturn there aren't many companies sponsoring GCs for employees. I doubt it would be more than 20 to 30k per year from now. This leaves 100-110k visas available every year for retrogressed countries like india and china
if there 300-400k pending GC applications in all categories then shouldn't all of us get our GC in next 3-4 years?
The downturn also causes 'GC pending' applicants to be laid off.

Some of us here are under the grand illusion that
(a) the lawmakes consider relief for skilled immigrants in isolation to be an important enough issue that they will make it a priority
(b) Relief for EB immigrants is totally non-controversial and everybody and his brother will back us.
Both assumptions are dead wrong. If 900 of the biggest companies and universities in america cannot convince congress to make SKIL bill a priority, then you know what a formidable challenge lies ahead of us.
As for EB relief being non-controvesial, I only need give one counter-example : S 1932.
We are all desperate for any relief : I repeat ANY. To think that the core team would be so shortsighted as to only pursue grandiose bills like CIR and not be on the look out for smaller relief measures is naive and severely underestimating their intelligence.

I do not think this is standard. I worked for a consultant company for 7 years and never saw an agreement like that!!
The only major issue I see here is "Reasonable notice period"? what is considered to be sufficient notice period? If they say it is 2 weeks, then I dont see a problem in that. Most companies would expect that you provide them with atleast 2 weeks notice before leaving employment. This is normal. But without specifying anything of that sort, it is scary. After you sign the agreement, the company might come back and say, the sufficient notice period is 3 months, Then you are screwed. So, clear those things up.
As far as the accuracy is timesheets are concerned, those are pretty much standard language. Since you will get your timesheet signed by your client manager and always have a copy of this timesheet, you will be safe. Also, tranfering your billing is always part of any non-compete agreement. Not just with Desi consultants.
So, the only thing I see is the broader scope of the reasonable notice period. IF you can get that cleared and have the number of days of notice period expected in the agreement, you should be ok.
