There was one security guy with a shaved head who was excellent although I think he spent most of his time down the other end of the queue. One of the security guys at the front was really nice too but was a bit overwhelmed due to the number of people. There was an Apple guy at the front who was a bit rubbish though and let people in. The queuing was *really* bad at the front. People were pushing in and got away with it at five to six. One guy even barged in at exactly six o'clock.
Apple apparently couldn't get permission to use barriers from the council - probably because they left it so late to announce when Leopard would be in stores. We (everyone at the front) were *extremely* disappointed with the shocking organisation of the queues. The first 20m or so of the queue was about 4 people wide. The inner two had been there since about 4 while the outer two had queue jumped in at great annoyance to everyone else at about ten to six and the staff did nothing. This is the reason why some of you didn't get t-shirts. We tried complaining and arguing but to no avail. :(
Shame people had to spoil it but xD It was fun while it lasted :P Did Gareth fully install Leopard on his MBP?

Is there a catch to this deal? Do you have to buy a MiFi and sign up for some sort of data plan?
    $299 is ridiculously tempting.

Just to clarify...do I need to reinstall XP now after the EFI update or should the speed be correct now?

I have a feeling a reinstall is necessary and that is fine, I'm just at work now and was wondering what to expect when I get home tonight.

    Thanks!

So he won the price and apple re-invited him. But what about the other hundreds of developers who are banned from the App store with no clear explanation why they were rejected? I like this 1984 reference in the previous comments, I couldn't agree more. Looks like it is time for change.
As for the artist, he is not showing too much artistic integrity. He has been rejected on BS reasons, calling his art ridiculous, then he resubmits immediately. He should have stood up agains the AppNazi and tell them to shove their censorship up their butts.

A little off topic, but question for those who need Office software, and also run Parallels/Fusion: Do you prefer Office For Mac, or do you prefer to run "regular" Office in Parallels/Fusion? Thanks.

I have Office 2011 for Mac and Office 2010 for Windows which I run in VMWare Fusion (got both for $9.95 each through Microsoft's Home Use Program). I much prefer Excel 2010 in Windows but Word 2011 and PowerPoint 2011 for Mac are fine.

In addition to the Japanese version, there are four other non-English ads (http://www.digg.com/apple/Apple_s_Get_a_Mac_campaign_goes_international). Unfortunately, unlike the Japanese one, they are simply dubbed and do not use other actors.

The 360 slim looks like a little kids toy next to the fat 360. Its just soooo cheesy and tacky.
LOL, yea because one of those large chunks of black plastic is soooo much better looking than the other two. None of the current consoles are "good" looking, if we're being totally honest. They are just boxes, that perform a function. Who cares?
I'll be holding out for the Slim Pro model. That might be until Christmas though.
Try harder. You can do better.

Before all you Apple fannies disagree with this; just remember Apple is trying to sue everyone else too.

    It's all ridiculous.

Amen. Some people here act like Kodak has no right to sue. Egads! Apple does it all the time also.

Im looking forward to the future of iOS.

If its good enough, I might even unjailbreak, still running 4.2.1 here, Ill miss it though, infinifolder, custom lockscreen, custom sounds.

Hopefully an iOS 5 Jailbreak will release soon after.

    you realise you contradicted yourself?

"I hope iOS 5 is good enough that ill unjailbreak"

"I hope once iOS 5 is out there is a jailbreak soon after"

    lols?

This is all they have now

    MagSafe power port
    Gigabit Ethernet port
    Mini DisplayPort
Two USB 2.0 ports (up to 480 Mbps)
    Audio in/out
    Kensington lock slot

Audio in/out IS the "headset jack". You can plug in the iphone headset and the mac will recognize both the mic and headphones.

Mac vs. PC: The stereotypes may be true

    By Brandon Griggs, CNN
    April 22, 2011 -- Updated 1915 GMT (0315 HKT) | Filed under: Web

(CNN) -- Remember those Apple ads that cast the Mac as a 20-something, self-satisfied hipster while the PC was portrayed by an older, square-looking guy in a brown suit?

Well, those characterizations, unfair as they may be, appear to have some truth to them.

An unscientific survey by Hunch, a site that makes recommendations based on detailed user preferences, found that Mac users tend to be younger, more liberal, more fashion-conscious and more likely to live in cities than people who prefer PCs.

Of the 388,000 Hunch users who responded to a question about computer loyalty, 52% identified themselves as PC people as opposed to 25% who said they are Mac devotees. Hunch then cross-referenced those responses with answers to other questions to draw cultural distinctions between the rival Mac and PC camps.

The results suggest Mac users can be seen, depending on your perspective, as bolder and more creative -- or elitist and more pretentious.

The report found that 67% of Mac users have a college or advanced degree, as opposed to 54% of PC users. Mac loyalists are 80% more likely than PC users to be vegetarians, and, unlike PC fans, would rather ride a Vespa scooter than a Harley.

PC users' tastes trend towards casual clothes, tunafish sandwiches, white wine, Hollywood movies, USA Today and Pepsi. Mac users prefer designer or vintage duds, hummus, red wine, indie films, The New York Times and (we're not making this up) San Pellegrino Limonata.

Mac users also are more likely to describe themselves as computer-savvy and "early adopters." PC users tend to describe themselves as better at math and less likely to throw frequent parties.

"I fit the typical Mac user on every count. Guess I'm not as unique as I thought. Depressing," wrote one commenter on Hunch's blog.

Since Hunch's first survey of Mac vs. PC users in November Apple has ridden the success of such high-profile products as the iPad and iPhone 4 to become the world's most highly valued tech company. Despite that hot streak, Hunch found that slightly more people in its new report -- 52%, up from 50% a year and a half ago -- now identify themselves as PC users.

    ----------------------------------------------

    San Pellegrino Limonata rocks.

    Tunafish sandwiches? LOL!! Losers. ;)

Smoked salmon pita all the way, with a hot cup of Fukamushi sencha. First flush. Imported!

If you have been using a computer for the last 20 years, there is no question that Word currently is the way to go, it seems to be perfected.

The future for Pages is much brighter then for Word, bit of a learning curve, but looking forward to Pages 2 (and Apple getting another $79)

I have to agree with most here that Pages didn't live up to my expectations. However, I can't agree with you that Word has been perfected. Word is complete nightmare in certain situations. Its non-intuitive and not very user friendly in many cases (especially the windows version!). I do prefer it to Pages, but its by no means the best that can be done.

Keynote on the other hand is fantastic, and considerably easier to use and prettier than Powerpoint.

Instead of suing everyone, kodak needs to get on this retro kick and start selling kodachrome camera's and film again for cheap. Stop using digital, start developing.

Did Kodak stop making film? Doesn't the niche film market already buy Kodak film.... and get cool cameras from Goodwill?

That doesn't seem to be helping EK. I think they might need to innovate their way out of their slump. Suing, right or wrong (I don't pretend to understand), will not keep them afloat forever... especially when their patents expire.

    Speaking of that... let's see:
a 20 yr patent granted in 1996, probably filed in 1995

a lawsuit in 2011 that might take a bit of time if it isn't settled

More lawsuits to come if they are successful.

...Kodak seems to be cutting this a little close.

Does anyone know if the new Holiday Justin Long commercials will be advertised? If I remember correctly, the Will Ferrell ones were just online and not on any TV. At least not that I saw.

While I do enjoy debate (not argument) on religion, can we please move it out of this thread? I've created a new one where you can move the discussion to, if you would be so kind:
