Guys, today I got our permanent residence visa from Canadian consular in LA that I almost had applied three years ago.
The visa is valid until June 9, 2007 and I really can not get my job done here in US until then. It is just too close. Even kinds will be in school by then.
Any one knows that if I can apply for an extension or not? I really don�t want to let it go since we spent so much money for it.
Any help is appreciated.

Your Employer is wrong. USCIS won't send I-94 in separate mail.
As per my knowledge, One should not start working unless there is I-94 attached to I-797 Approval Notice.
Your wife need to go out of the US and get it stamped before start working.
At POE, the Immigration Officer will issue the new I-94 with valid H1-B Status.
Again I am not an attorney...
Please talk to attorney for further clarifications.

Employer says they will receive I 94 document seperately and they will mail it.

You may have a great idea but it'll never happen. Anti-immigrants will label this idea as "Green card for sale" and essentially that's what it is. Bush is also proposing the same for undocumented workers for 10K but conservatives aren't falling for it.
You can argue all you want that we have done everything by the book and have lived here legally all along but no one seems to be impressed with that argument and hence hardly anyone talks about relief to EB folks.
The only 2 topic that is ever discussed is H1B (for company's benefit) and illegal alien (big vote bank for politicians). Even if you propose 50K, I don't think anyone will listen.
It's fun to bounce around ideas, however, while we are waiting for our green card. :)

Yeah, I have proof of Nepal. My mom still has properties and farm land in nepal.
I read at few forums that Indian consultate does not entertain changing place or date of birth? are there any exceptions to that? Or have they changed policies?

1 year from now, only EB3-Indians with PDs of 2001-2006 will hang on the IV website. Everybody else(or atleast 99%) will be gone...

I have no intension of leaving the company, the mgmt is asking me to take the pay cut at this time and they will pay me back after 1 year. so i don't see any issues like they are not willing to pay or anything. I was just trying to get an idea whether this might effect on the green card or not? like, you should get the salary mentioned on file atleast for next 6 month.

The document you have reffered is -->EXTENSION OF REGISTRATION PERIOD
FOR CERTAIN NONIMMIGRANTS
and this extension is valid till on or before April 25, 2003

Its not too late yet....You will get H1 extension beyond 6 yrs if you meet one of the below conditions:
-- labor certification is pending for 365 days ---(This is not applicable to you)
-- I-140 is approved -- (You have a chance with this option)
Apply asap for labor certification. With the PERM process it usually takes 2-3 months to get it certified. Then you can apply for I-140 in Premium Processing and get it certified within 15 days.
Make sure you hire a good attorney and push to get the 2 stages cleared fast. Then you can file for H1 extension and get a 3 yr extension with approved I-140.
Good Luck..

I am reading conflicting posts with some saying only 1 yr extension and some saying 3 yr extension based on i-140 approval. Anybody been through this or have any info on this, I would appreciate your response. How many years can i get H1B extension for?

I am not an attorney but I was in almost similar situation.
1) You may get the priority date if you have the I140 copy. Some people say that even if you have lean no of I140 may be sufficient. As per law, priority date can be ported only if I140 is not canceled. But I read one article from an attorney which said that there is a circular in USCIS which advised officers to port the priority date if there is a I140 copy attached to I140 petition.
2) You can extend your H1 beyond 6th year if your GC labor PERM stage is pending atleast 365 days prior to your 6th year ending. You will get one year extension if PERM is pending and 3 years extension if I140 is approved
3) I think this is tricky, you can transfer only if new employer has filed for PERM and got an approval. I am not fully sure about it.
