newbie2020 has taken the initiative of arranging the first conference call which was well received among the members. And one of the points he mentioned in the meeting is worth noting here.
People who are driven towards entrepreneurship have expertise in one or the other field. However they may be looking for help in fields other than their area of expertise. That is where IV members can help each and build their successful businesses.

That is where we can help each other and grow the businesses. And this is one intention behind starting the IV Entrepreneur yahoo group.

You can mention "Haiti Relief" in the "specific purpose" column for Salvation Army. You can use paypal also.

This new law in its current form affects everyone who is here legally whether someone is a Student or H1B
1. Some one who is a student he gets extended OPT
2. The moment student want to file for H1, his employer should be willing to shell out nearly $10,000
3. Every extension subsequently costs same amount unless they dont increase it further.
4. Some one on H1b cant do consulting.
5. Some one whose EB petition is pedning and nearing 6th year is scrwed because of the reduction in VISA numbers and repealing of AC21.
6. Employers have to shell out $10000 every year to get extension.
A spoke with at least 10 people and have them signed up for IV.
Folks , Please talk about this issue when you make weekend calls. No one from EB community is spared from this draconian bill .
Make phone calls and have your people signed up for IV

One thing which I forgot to mention earlier is that when new Employer "B" did the H1B transfer (June 2007) from Employer "A" - the I-797 receipt # of Employer "B" came out of to be different from I-797 receipt # of Employer "A"?
Shouldn't the I-797 receipt #'s for Employer "A" and Employer "B" should be SAME as it's just an H1B transfer???

Of course the receipt number would be different, because each H1 application is treated as a new application, regardless of whether its a transfer or new. So, they are identified uniquely.

No, at port of entry, you show the new H1 and you get the new I-94 with an expiry date that's on the H1...which would be June 2010. Remember, The I-94 (Arrival-Departure Record) shows the date you arrived in the United States and the “Admitted Until” date—that is the day your authorized period of stay expires, usually its the expiry date what's on your H1.
So, even though your visa may expire after some time, you are legal to stay till the date mentioned on the I-94. I hope its clear to you.

The way education system is set here they always want to see 12+4+2 pattern. Now when you say 12+3+3 which adds to same it is true but you will have to get some proffessional degree evaluation service to break down your BS and MS degree by course and credit hours and prove that it is equivalent to US degree's. Also I am not sure what university / institute did you get your degrees from. In case they are well reputed then it will make the task a little easy.

any recent EAD approvals? we applied on aug 11 and did FP's on sep 8th, i e filed...mine expires on oct 30th ..please advise..mine is at NSC
the processing dates show may1....and i am moving to a new emplyer on oct 13th and i dont want my new empllyer to get shocked saying my EAD expires on Oct 30th..any suggestions are apprecaited
